September 11, 2001 is a day that most Americans will never forget. It’s a day that we all remember where we were and what we were doing when our nation was attacked. It’s hard to believe it has been 11 years since that tragic day. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family’s that lost a loved one in those attacks. I can’t imagine the grief and sadness these families have endured over this time.
I personally never want to forget. I want to remember every year the sacrifice they all made. The hard work all the Fire Fighters and Police departments poured into saving as many lives as they could. The sacrifice that our Men & Women gave to go to war so that we may be safe. How our country pulled together to become one and fight the bad guy. It still brings tears to my eyes every time I think of that day.
September 11 2001
So on this 11 year Anniversary of September 11, 2001 I wanted to pay a little more respect and have my daughter Savannah involved. Now she is only 3 so she doesn’t understand the whole concept of what happened on that day but I thought if we start now this could be something she could grow to understand in time. I decided to have some cupcakes made and take them to our local fire department and also have Savannah make them a card in appreciation.
This was Savannah’s first time going to a Fire Department and she was extremely excited. We pulled into Fire Station 39 Location on Providence Road Charlotte, NC.

We walked up cupcakes in hand and knocked on the door. We were greeted by Fire Fighter Jeff. We gave him the cupcakes and a big thank you for all that they do. Mr. Jeff was very kind and took the time to show Savannah around the station.

Whew that’s heavy

So those are a few pictures from our time at the Fire Station. I appreciate all they do and all they have done to save lives. That also goes for the Police and Medic. These people do not get paid near enough to put their life’s on the line every day.
What did you do to remember?
Well we have finally hit the Why stage and let me tell you WHY this will drive you crazy if you haven’t reached this stage yet.
1. It will take you forever to get to the end of a book. I recommend getting “The interrupting Chicken” by: David Ezra Stein just to maybe give them an idea of what they are doing. It won’t help but you can try. haha
2. It starts when they wake up and doesn’t end till they go to sleep.
3. No matter how you answer the question it will always be followed by a question.
I mean literally these changes happen over night. It’s crazy. I think I am going to ask her Pre-School teacher to please answer all her question before I pick her up. haha Oh and did I mention our nap time seems to be getting shorter.. OHHHH KNOW..
But seriously I love to watch Savannah grow and change and all the great things she does. I am continually in awe of the things she says. Yesterday we were walking the dog and she was running and I told her not to run and she replied “God will protect me from boo boo’s”. Ok can’t argue with that.
Today she had swim class and she floated on her back for the first time!! I was so proud of her. I also realized that she has a Major crush on her previous swim instructor Mr. Stuart. She ask them to go get him every time we go to class. It’s so sweet.
After Swim class we always go to CFA & Miss Heather, Adam & Baby Jake are our dates. Savannah and Adam have been going to swim class together for about 2 years and now they go to the same pre-school. Unfortunately they are not in the same class but they do get to see each other quite a bit. Here they are enjoying their ice cream today at CFA.

What a great weekend!!
Savannah finished her 2nd week of school with no time-outs.. Justin went to Atlanta to watch the Clemson game. Jordan went to the Beach with Erin & Troy and Jeff and I had a cook out with all the neighbors and several other friends. We are so Blessed.
Savannah had her first gymnastics class at Southeastern Gymnastics and she loved it.
First Gymnastics Class
Savannah is going through this stage where she wants to do something but she want’s you to coax her to do it well at this school there is no coaxing. The school teachers are Russian and needless to say they are not warm and fuzzy. There was a little girl who was nervous to go in to class (understandable so they are 3) the teacher looked at her and said “either you are coming in or not” and she shut the door. Glad it was her and not me because I might have knocked the door down. I mean come on show a little compassion. I understand they have a class to run but sheesh talk about tough love.
Saturday night we had a Labor Day cookout. We got to spend some time with The Franck’s and many other friends. It was a GREAT night.
Sunday morning we got up and went to church at Forest Hill. Savannah has just moved up in her Sunday school class and she is no longer in the nursery. She is now a part of the Art Studio. After service we went to pick her up and her Life Group Leader (sunday school teacher) informed us that Savannah volunteered to do the countdown for the Art Studio and say “Welcome to the Art Studio”. So they stood her up on a table and asked her what number she wanted to start with and she said “W” hahaha.. So they said ok… “W-X-Y-Z” and she welcomed everyone to the art studio. Not bad for a 3-year-old. Me I wouldn’t do that as a 42-year-old. That confidence is definitely something she gets from her dad. After church Savannah and Jeff headed to Mimi & Pop’s and it was my turn to volunteer at church so I stayed. Shortly after I met up with Jeff and Savannah and we had lunch and ice cream..
Ice Cream after a fun day at Church
Monday we went over to the Dunlap’s and swam with Carson, Caroline & Campbell until around nap time. Always good to spend time with them!
